Grade 12, DP Spanish Ab Initio Class (October 2, 2019)
September is a festive month for many countries in Central America (Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica) for it is the month to celebrate their independence from Spain.
To join such independence celebrations and to further develop the student’s international mindedness, the 2nd year DP Spanish Ab Initio students planned, organized, and ran an educational fair called the “Latin Fair”. Here, the seniors get the opportunity to share their knowledge of the Spanish language and culture with the younger PYP students, creating a student-to-student learning experience.
Some of the things that the Spanish students did this year was teaching the colors in Spanish through a song, presenting about the country of Nicaragua (its geography, foods, and traditional dresses), and finally, they gave each of the younger students a Spanish name!
