The theme of this year’s DP Group 4 Project is “Improving Environmental Awareness.” Our G11 DP students, working in 8 groups, explored a wide range of issues: Air pollution, Water pollution, Waste management, Water filtration, Urban runoff’s and Global warming. All groups had to design and conduct scientific experiments and propose solutions based on the data collected. They then have to convey their findings and solutions to the school community through a well-designed infographic.
The following are this year’s research topics:
Examine the relationship between Taiwan's domestic wastes and its' ecosystem.
Climate Change: How effects of ozone depletion can be solved by albedo effect.
Investigate how microplastic is affecting the ecosystem, and create a microplastic filter based on natural resources
The quality of water in fish tank compared to the pond in Kuei Shan
Investigation into the rising temperatures in urban areas through concrete absorbing heat
Determine how rain affects air quality in Taipei
Investigate water pollution and the further research on how to purify the water by distillation and filtration.
Investigate into how acid rain may damage the ecosystem
In a few short weeks, students accomplished the task through group collaboration. All groups presented the process of their work. Their final products, the infographics poster will be on display in front of the 5F lab. Congratulations to a job well-done!
