DP G11 Language and Literature Class Hamlet Act 3 Scene 3: Improvised

In this transformation exercise, students improvise lines from Hamlet Act 3 Scene 3, where Prince Hamlet stumbles upon a prime opportunity to kill his uncle Claudius (the murderer of his father). However, as Claudius appears to be praying (which meant being sent to heaven if he were to die in that moment), Hamlet decides to catch Claudius at a more sinful time and inadvertently misses his only opportunity. While preparing for this exercise, students analyzed emotions that were locked behind the literary features of the aged text, and played with staging and lighting to capture the intensity of this fatal missed opportunity.

Student Roles:

Stage Director: Tim Claudius: Kaylee Hamlet: Sean
