Earlier this month, the G10 Design and Visual Arts students put together an exhibition of their Year 5 MYP work, concluding the learning and growth they’ve experienced over the past five years of the Middle Years Program.
As also a demonstration of student agency, the exhibition was curated by a student team. The posters, pamphlets, exhibition layout, exhibition statement, and administrative communication were all spearheaded by students.
The curatorial team writes “With the MYP years coming to an end, we want to celebrate the hard work and joy of each and every Grade 10 Arts and Design student. This showcases our minds, time, and space that are changing over the course of these 5 years. We as students and learners are continuously growing. Therefore, our exhibition proudly presents all of MYP design and art students’ eAssessments, not just the product, but the process as well. Enjoy!”
Engagement in art and design is indispensable for a teen’s holistic development. At Kuei Shan, arts and design education is set in the rigorous MYP curriculum, and contextualized with the pedagogical belief that each child will grow into an individual made in the image of God. For that, each student engages with learning in art or design through academic research, development, production, and evaluation. It is with great pride that we present the accomplishments and growth our students have journeyed through in the past five years of the MYP.
