MYP G10 Biology
Our Biology students recently had the opportunity to learn about catalysis in living organisms in the Lab. In Part 1, the student used a water displacement method to produce oxygen from hydrogen peroxide using manganese dioxide as the catalysis. For Part 2, the students used livers purchased from the nearby grocery store to experiment with factors that affect the efficacy of enzymes using the reaction between catalase (enzyme) and hydrogen peroxide. It's not just chopped liver. It's chopped liver and enzymes!
