“In encouraging play, the arts promote learning about real issues - the way things work, the way they look[…], and trying on the possible for size.” - Catterall, 2009
Our G7 dance students have been working to create original choreograph for our upcoming January 12 performance. As part of the choreographing process, students are engaging with playful movement activities, including the one pictured, where students dance their way through an obstacle course. At first glance, their movements mimic play on a playground. As students help document each other’s playful explorations, the recorded videos become a point of reference to be then developed into choreographs that are powerful and imaginative expressions of the body.
Join us in looking forward towards our student’s performance in January!
