The 2022-2023 school year is off to a great start at Kuei Shan today as we welcomed new and returning students alike with an opening ceremony on this first day of school. The school grounds come alive once again as the campus is filled with the excited chatter and laughter of students back from summer vacation. From today onwards, students are set up for success as they familiarize themselves with the new school mission statement and school-wide behavioral expectations during orientation.
Teachers gave extended talks to foster students’ social and behavioral competencies with the goal of creating a positive learning environment. Concepts from the social-emotional learning (SEL) approach were also discussed broadly. Topics include MYP Introduction, Practicing Positive Self-Talk, Open Mindedness and Caring, Environmental Factors that Contribute to Bullying, and Using Poetry to Develop SEL. Well begun is half done, yet we will continue to strive for excellence, and look forward to a fruitful and memorable school year.
