Last week, a group of Grade 9 students visited Unlazy Mind Cafe, a concept cafe started by psychologists who are coffee lovers. They had the opportunity to learn about therapy and counseling from a professional in the field and also experience making pour over coffee for themselves.
As they arrived, they were greeted by a friendly barista who showed them the process of making pour over coffee. The students were shown how to set up the pour over apparatus, which consisted of a filter, a carafe, and a cone-shaped dripper. The barista carefully measured out the coffee and poured hot water over it in a circular motion, taking care to saturate all of the grounds evenly. The students watched in awe as the coffee slowly dripped into the carafe, and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air. They then got to try it for themselves!
After that, a therapist arrived and introduced himself to the students. He explained his field of work and the education path he took that led him to attain his license in counseling. His advice to the students was to start preparing for their futures as early as they can. The therapist then opened up the floor for questions, and the students eagerly asked about various topics regarding therapy and counseling.
Overall, the experience of making pour over coffee and learning about the field of counseling provided an enriching and stimulating experience for the students. It allowed them to explore different aspects of the world around them and gain new insights.
