On 11/7, Kuei Shan Secondary School held the annual Sports Day for the MYP and DP students. Spirits were high as everyone gathered in the Taipei Stadium Warm Up Field. For the Opening Ceremony, both classes from each MYP grade-level worked together to demonstrate their understanding of the sports day spirit based on the Bible verse Philippians 3:13-14,
“I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
This is part of the MYP Project as Sports day is meant to go beyond the games. It is an opportunity for students to develop, act and reflect on MYP learning outcomes. This ties in with the U in TRUTH, United: life-giving community. It is our hope that students connect with peers and teachers through curricular and extracurricular activities, invest in relationships through camaraderie-building peer culture, and build each other up by being a source of encouragement and grace.

Wow! The students truly did a great job putting their heads together to come up with a spectacular showcase! Next up was an even more exciting time as we moved into the sports events. Each class representative brought their best foot forward as they went head-to-head with students from other classes in events such as tug-of-war, standing relay jump, vertical jump competition, 100m and 200m sprints, and 1200m relay race. What an exciting time!
It is truly a blessing to have held our Sports Day this year in an awesome venue and under great weather conditions. Congratulations to all the winners and well done to all athletes who participated and embodied the sports day spirit!
